Online counselling for South Africans in Australia

Australia has one of the largest South African communities abroad. The distance from ageing parents, and the long, expensive trips home, are a recurring theme in our sessions. Talk to a registered South African counsellor by video, at a time that suits AEST/AEDT, and pay with your AUD card.

From about A$80 per session at current rates · 50-minute sessions · VAT included

Online counselling with a South African counsellor

Why a South African counsellor, from Australia?

Therapy works faster when you do not have to translate your life. Our counsellors know the country you left, the family you still worry about and the guilt and relief that travel with you. They also know that "just come home" is not an answer.

We work with homesickness and identity, marriage strain after a move, children settling in, ageing parents far away, burnout in a new job market, and grief you could not fly home for.

Questions from South Africans in Australia

What time are sessions if I am in Australia?

Sessions run 05:00 to 22:00 South African time, six to nine hours ahead of South Africa. In practice a 07:00 morning slot in South Africa is early evening on the east coast, ideal after work. The booking calendar shows times in your own timezone.

How do I pay from Australia?

By any Visa or Mastercard, in rand, about A$80 per session at current rates. No South African bank account is needed and there are no extra fees from us.

Is it legal to see a South African counsellor from Australia?

Yes. Our counsellors are registered in South Africa and offer counselling, not medical treatment, so you can see them from anywhere. If you need a prescription or a local referral, we will tell you honestly.

Will my counsellor understand what it is like to emigrate?

Yes. Our counsellors are South African, several have family abroad, and we have worked with expats in more than 15 countries. You will not need to explain load-shedding, the exchange rate or what leaving home costs.

Can my partner join from a different country?

Yes. Couples sessions are R1,092.50 and both of you can join the video call from wherever you are.
